Q & A

What is a benefit of having a doula?
There is research that proves that a woman giving birth with support, whether that is from their partner, other family members, friend or a doula, will have less risk of interventions and can lead to a better birth over all.

Does a partner need doula support?
Yes! Partners may also feel the benefit of having doula support. Especially for first time parents, sometimes the experience can be overwhelming and it may be difficult to support mom fully while possibly dealing with their own fears and anxieties. Even if your partner is feeling confident and comfortable, having doula support can give your partner time to step out to eat, lay down or use the bathroom without worrying about abandoning the mother.

Why would you need your doula to visit after the birth?
Bringing a new baby home is a big adjustment and for a while it can be a very busy and tiring time caring for a newborn. Having doula support to help you with aspects you may be having trouble with can feel very welcome.
